Why do men think they need a show like the Pickup Artist?

pickup artists
Dannuele asked:

I think that is the most degrading show to women I have ever seen. To teach a guy how to be a player and think that he can get any woman in a club is so ridiculous. Why do some men think this is a great show to learn from?

I’ve never watched it, but I do know there are plenty of women and men out there who are stupid and easily fall for all sorts of manipulations. I’m not entirely sure this is degrading to women as much as it is promoting the morality of the con artist. I mean, when you’re naturally more intelligent than another person (male or female), is it really so wrong to have your way? That show says no, not even at the most basic levels ie. ***.

    Yecch.

Women, if you meet someone who is using “game” on you, for heaven’s sake, keep your clothes on! After all, they might have done this twelve times in the last week, and they might have a black book that resembles the Yellow Pages!

…and who knows what kind of germs they might be harboring…

You might want to watch a little to get wise to what they do? I think I will.

Men dream of doing this sort of thing. Men must approach, and most get shot down again and again.

So this is a show that gives men hope that they won’t get shot down.

    Understandable.

I think that everyone needs a boost of confidence every now and then. I believe he is teaching them how to date and have confidence in themselves. There is no reason for them to be lonely.
The only thing that I get confused about is the makeovers. I guess they are the same person behind the clothes.
Anyone that doesn’t want to be alone has no choice but to date.

you do know the show aint real right. those are paid actors acting like nerds on the show. i know because my cousin works as a producer for the show and other shows on vh1 and the whole show is fake. there paid actors trying to act like nerds.

BEcause women use their looks and *** appeal to manipulate men, and men are deciding to learn to manipulate women for ***. I don’t care for such a show, but it’s good that men are learning that the way to get women is not by being nice, but appealing to their insecurities. These techniques are more likely to work on women who lack depth… women who are manipulative themselves.

  7. Because if a man can’t “pick up” women it’s the end of the world for them.

  8. I think it is a joke and I would take it as a something like a man’s version of a soap opera: there is stupidity and drama just like any soap. Women should watch it for the laughs and if they actually meet a man who follows the show and tries to execute any moves shown there, you can laugh and make fun of him.

I think the show is fake.
You wanna talk about degrading shows??? *** and the city- to both men and women
Have you ever seen the cover of some Cosmopolitan magazines?
“How to manipulate men” – “how to train your man” – DISGUSTING
Basically telling women how to work smart and not hard. So instead the hard working women suffers for it.

Have you seen some of these videos out there?

It’s insulting to men, because with all this stupid terminology and sets, and this and that, it makes men seem so inferior and women superior for men to have to do all this stuff to get a woman. I don’t know about you, but if I was a woman I would be flattered. Here I thought we were all human, but apparently from the pick up artist, women are goddesses, because apparently you need a big old manual or things to do and say and all these terms and stuff. Call me crazy, but confidence, actually wanting to listen to what a girl has to say and not bragging and being a doofus and being a desperate doormat, seems like a man would do fine if he has some personality and isn’t **** ugly.

I watched one episode and the mystery pick up artists guy was guying to show how the other guys, how it’s done. Well when mystery walked in the club, the women there turned their head and were already looking at him coming in and paying attention to him, like they were awaiting him, lol. Certainly it makes things easier when girls are already paying attention to a man and are facing him when he steps in a club. They had their backs to the contestant guys and didn’t pat attention to them when they walked in the club. The girls probably knew who mystery was. But anyways, mystery looks like a dork with his fuzzy hat and goggles and the quick clip showed him swirling his two fingers in front of one *****. So no wonder he gets girls… he hypnotizes them..he must be chris angel’s brother.

And then another part in his kid sounding voice “I’m excited! are you excited?!” he says as an opening thing to a chick, like in a kid way. Who does that? His voice and everything made it sound like he was going to Disney Land..it’s a club, jeesh, lol. I’m going to have to remember to swirl my fingers in front of a ****** eyes and hypnotize her and act like a boy going to Disney land next time I go to the club, lol.

  11. Because there are way too many guys these days that are not getting any female attention. They are fed up with getting rejected over, and over, and over again and are understandably desperate for answers. Only a person that has lived that life can really understand why a man would pay upwards of $3,000.00 to attend a Mystery Method “bootcamp”.
Personally, I think many of these Pickup Artist “gurus” are frauds taking advantage of a very real recent phenomenon — the growing number of guys that are simply unwanted.
If society was simply more honest about what women wanted instead of filling all these below-average looking guys’ heads with all that BS about personality mattering most, these shysters wouldn’t be able to ply their trade. You would instead see a dramatic rise in the fitness and fashion industries. The “jerks” and “bad boys” would no longer be so desireble because now there would be plenty of good looking guys that won’t treat women like crap.

I agree with HooHah. The point I might add is that these pickup artists are actually acting hypocritical. Most of them preach that you shouldn’t put a women on a pedestal by saying nice things which they may or may not be used to hearing. However, their actions make me think that this is a double standard because the man is going in with a mentality the woman is on a pedestal and needs to do everything to get to her level.

Now for my take, most of the pickup artists, including Mystery state that their methods can be used everywhere, not just the bars. Yet, when you see the show, the field tests are conducted in guess where…bars/clubs! Furthermore, most of the success stories mentioned by pickup artists and their charges is that it worked in a bar. The basic concepts such as being confident and unapologetic about who you are make sense when approaching women or dating. However, most of the tricks pickup artists have in their bag really are designed for the inebriated woman at your local night club. If you dig that stuff, more power to you. If you’re like me, you prefer to actually have a honest relationship where both parties are equal and HONEST!

In conclusion, being a pickup artist, in my opinion might get you excitement in the short term, but where do you go to when you want something more meaningful?
